The Lookers Legacy Reviews

James
The location of the cottage was spot on, perfect for wandering around and discovering local sights. Loved the cosy feel, it was really relaxing. Definitely recommend it for anyone wanting a peaceful getaway.

We had a lovely stay! The place was super cosy and really clean, making us feel right at home. The bed was comfyand the kitchen had everything we needed, even if a bit small. The footpath nearby is pretty quiet, which was perfect for us, though those wanting total privacy should keep that in mind. Overall, a peaceful getaway I’d definitely recommend. We’d happily stay again!
James
The house is lovely, situated perfectly for peace and quiet. We loved it!
Alex
Really enjoyed our stay! The place is ideal for relaxingand when a tiny problem came up, it was sorted out swiftly. Definitely planning to return soon!

We stayed here for a few nights and honestly, the place has so much potential but definitely needs some tlc. When we arrived, it was quite cold one evening (about 5 degrees)and the heating just didn’t do the job. The bedroom radiator was lukewarm at bestand the kitchen radiator refused to turn on, so we had to light the log fire. Unfortunately, there was no kindling or matches in sight, which was a pain. While the property is perfect for a quick stay of a couple of nights, longer visits might be a bit tricky because of limited storage space. The guest book mentions a box under the bed for extra storage, but it’s not there. So, we pretty much lived out of our suitcases, with nowhere to stow small clothing or dried food. It’s a shame because the house itself is lovely and in a fantastic location. Just a few little things that could make a big difference. Would still recommend for a short stay.
Emma
We recently spent a week at The Lookers Legacy in Oxney, Kentand honestly, it was quite a mixed bag. We chose this place mainly because it’s tucked away, quite secludedand pet-friendly since we were bringing along our rescue dog who can be a bit reactive. The location is definitely a highlight - set amidst vineyards with views over the Kent countryside, it’s perfect if you’re after peace and quiet. The scenery around here is really lovelyand you can enjoy some peaceful walks right from the doorstep, especially through the vineyards which was a real plus for us and our dog. Getting there was straightforward enough, though the final approach involves some narrow, winding lanes, which is typical for rural spots like this. The property itself is part of a small development of converted barns, accessed via a secure keypad gate - nice for privacy. Parking was convenient, with a large space just a short walk from the cottageand they even provided a sturdy trolley to help move your luggage, which we appreciated, though even then, pushing it up the slope from the parking to the door was a bit of a workout! Now, the cottage has a charming history and looks like it’s been thoughtfully designed, but there were a few things that could’ve been better. For one, the description mentioned an underbed storage box, separate dog towelsand a dog waste bin - none of these were presentand it turned out the owners weren’t aware of that. The storage was quite limitedand the lack of a dedicated waste bin for the dog’s mess was a bit inconvenient. We also noticed some dust on surfaces, which isn’t a dealbreaker but did surprise us. The woodburning stove was a lovely feature, perfect for cooler evenings, but there were no kindling, lighter, or matches to get it going, so we couldn’t use it during our stay. A few small maintenance issues also stood out. The rubber seals on the dishwasher were loose and kept pulling out when we tried to unload it, which was a bit frustrating. The crockery was a bit mismatched - some sets weren’t completeand there was only one red wine glass, which felt a tad sparse considering the outdoor patio area. Speaking of which, the outdoor furniture was missing some glass table tops, making the tables a little unstable - not ideal when you’re trying to enjoy a drink outside. The plastic wine glasses provided were few, so we found ourselves wishing for a few more or some plastic tumblers for outdoor use. The kitchen equipment could’ve been a bit better planned, too. The knives needed sharpeningand there was no breadknife or clingfilm, foil, or extra black bin bags, which would’ve been handy. The small capacity dishwasher meant we had to run it daily with limited tablets supplied - a minor thing but a bit of a hassle after a week. The cleaning tools were lacking as well; the only dustpan we found was broken and stored with the stove equipment, which was odd. Another point was the external bedroom shutter that overlooked the footpath. It hadn’t been maintained and was unusable, which was a shame because it would’ve provided extra privacy. Also, the door seals on the dishwasher were problematic, pulling off easily, which meant dealing with a few leaks. The crockery and glasses felt a bit mismatchedand the small rattan tables outside lacked their glass tops, so they weren’t very stable at all. That said, there were plenty of positive aspects. The bed was incredibly comfortableand the sofa was cosy - perfect for relaxing after a day of exploring. The two-person hot tub was a real treat, especially for unwinding in the evening. We also appreciated the open hanging space and coat hooks, which made packing and organising straightforward. The welcome pack was a thoughtful touchand being able to walk our dog around the vineyards was a lovely bonus. Overall, we enjoyed our stay - the weather was mostly kindand we managed to explore all the places we’d planned. The location is genuinely fantasticand the cottage’s character makes it a charming escape. However, considering the little issues we encountered - minor maintenance hiccups and some missing amenities - we wouldn’t be rushing back, mainly because we tend to explore new places rather than revisit old favourites. Still, it’s a lovely spot for a peaceful retreat, especially if you’re after stunning scenery and dog-friendly walks. Just a few tweaks here and there would make a big difference to the guest experience!
James

We loved the cosy vibe here. Perfect size for us and our medium dog. The peaceful surroundings are just what we needed. Walking to the pub was lovely, but don’t forget your torch if heading there after dark - it’s quite a walk! Definitely recommend.

Staying at The Lookers Legacy was just what we needed - a peaceful escape in such a lovely spot. The conversion and extension are really cosy, with all the essentials right there. We loved exploring Kent’s scenic countryside and found Winchelsea and the beach nearby to be well worth a trip. Appreciated the thoughtful touches like the milk, treatsand logs. Overall, a wonderful stayand we’d happily recommend it to others!
Emma
We had a great stay at this place! The property is really modern and comfortable, perfect for escaping the hustle and bustle. Even during the stormy weather, it stayed warm and cosy. The garden isn’t enclosed, but there’s plenty of space for our dog to play freely. It’s close to Rye, which we absolutely loved exploring-definitely recommend the Standard Inn and Marinos fish and chips. Would happily stay again!
James
